Tamil R&B Princess Priya Ragu Takes Toronto

Priya Connects To Toronto With Her Soulful Vocals and Passion

Priya Ragu's recent show in Toronto is a testament to her captivating presence in the global music industry. On March 29 at the Velvet Underground, Ragu electrified the stage the minute she walked in, and held the audience’s attention with her soulful vocals, skillful rapping and infectious energy. Her performance was a seamless fusion of contemporary beats with traditional Tamil influences, creating a mesmerizing sound. I have never heard anything like it; it is so uniquely her but perfectly representative of the desi diaspora experience.

The setlist was a well-crafted mix of fan favorites and new tracks, showcasing Ragu's versatility. From upbeat dance numbers that had the crowd grooving, to her more soulful numbers, every song was delivered with passion. Ragu had the amazing ability to connect with her audience on a personal level and to get them to dance, sing and chant non-stop. Between songs, she shared heartfelt anecdotes with the audience, one of which was the story of how her and her brother (who is a part of her band) have been visiting family in Toronto ever since they were young. Now, to play a sold out show together, in a city they spent so much of their childhood in was an extremely emotional moment for them.

Priya Ragu's show in Toronto was a captivating journey through music, culture, and emotion. With her undeniable talent and magnetic stage presence, she left a lasting impression on everyone in this sold out show!
